Gründung der Stiftung imai - inter media art institute
Auf Initiative von 235 MEDIA und der Stadt Düsseldorf entstand die erste gemeinnützige Institution, die sich sowohl der zeitgemäßen Vermittlung, der Konservierung und Archivierung als auch der wissenschaftlichen Erschließung von Videokunst widmet.
Bereits seit den frühen 1980er Jahren hat 235 MEDIA ein umfangreiches Videokunstarchiv und eine internationale Vermittlungsstruktur aufgebaut. Durch das Engagement und die Förderung der Kunststiftung NRW sowie durch die Unterstützung der Kulturstiftung der Länder und der Kulturstiftung des Bundes wurden Archiv und Vermittlungsstruktur jetzt auf die gemeinnützige Stiftung imai - inter media art institute übertragen. Mitstifter sind neben der Stadt Düsseldorf und Ulrich Leistner / Axel Wirths, Gründer von 235 MEDIA, das NRW Forum Kultur und Wirtschaft und die stiftung museum kunst palast.

On the initiative of the media art agency 235 MEDIA and the City of Düsseldorf the first non-profit foundation imai is dedicated not only to the distribution of media art, but also to conservation and research issues is created.
Starting in the 1980s, the founders of 235 MEDIA, Ulrich Leistner and Axel Wirths have built up an extensive archive of video art as well as an international distribution network. Thanks to the active commitment of "Kunststiftung NRW" and the support of "Kulturstiftung der Länder" and in cooperation with "NRW Forum Kultur und Wirtschaft" and "stiftung museum kunst palast" both the collection and the distribution structure of 235 MEDIA have now been transfered to imai - inter media art institute.
